There are few things as unsettling as finding scorpions in your home or business. Unfortunately, this is a fairly common problem in the Las Vegas area. If you’ve noticed these venomous pests in your home, you’ll want to get rid of them right away.
The following guide will provide some quick scorpion control tips that will help you deal with the problem quickly and effectively.
1. Trap and Release
If you only see one scorpion and you’re feeling brave, you can trap and release it. To do this, you’ll want to use a large glass jar, since scorpions can’t climb vertically up the glass. Make sure to wear high gloves, long sleeves, long pants, and closed shoes to minimize the chances of getting stung.
Place the jar over the scorpion, then side a heavy piece of cardboard underneath. Flip the jar right side up so the scorpion falls to the bottom, then screw the lid on the jar. Take the jar very far away from your home, unscrew the lid, and carefully release the scorpion.
2. Sticky Traps
Don’t want to get up-close and personal with a live scorpion? We don’t blame you! If you don’t have children or pets in your home, you can use disposable sticky traps. Simply place them around your home in places where scorpions like to hide, then check them every few days.
It’s important to note that if you catch one or two, there may be many more you haven’t seen. In this case, you’ll want to contact a professional pest control company for a scorpion control treatment before you end up with a full-on infestation in your home.
3. Pesticide Spray
Spraying a scorpion’s body directly with a pesticide spray will kill it, making this an effective way to get rid of one or two of these pests in your home. Just remember that there may be many more hiding and possibly breeding, so this is not a long-term solution.
While it may not completely eliminate your scorpion problem, a monthly preventative spray can also drastically reduce the chances of getting scorpions in your home.
4. Exclusion Treatment
If you’ve already got a scorpion infestation or you’ve seen a few scorpions around and are concerned that it might grow into a bigger problem, you really need to turn to the experts.
